Kerr Construction Matt Duchene Cup Finalists
Kerr Construction Peewee BB represented Prince Edward County well In Matt Duchene Cup this past weekend.
Kings kicked off the tourney vs Shallow Lake with a Convincing 5-1 win. Boys came out of the gate flying with there minds set on opening up the tourney showing a high compete level for the other competition to see.
Second game vs Woodville Hurricanes seen the kings quick out of the gate scoring 4 goals in the first period and went onto win 5-0.
Final Game of the round robin was Vs Tweed Hawk the kings got off to an early lead and were relentless the entire game but fell short 3-1.Boys booked a ticket into the semi finals with a 2-1 record and a date with Toronto Shamrock at 12:30.
Semi final game Vs Toronto Shamrock was back and fourth for the most part but you could tell the kings were tiring them out with there relentless play. Toronto had the lead till 2 mins left in the third when the kings tied it up and really shifted momentum. Kings came flying shift after shift till 24 seconds left in the game with a srammble out front bounced on the kings stick and was buried into the back of the net to take a 3-2 lead and seal the game.
championship game vs Bancroft was a rematch from a previous tournament final so the boys were looking for some revenge. First period of the game seen the kings playing short handed for a majority of the period and allowed Bancroft to jump out to a 4- 0 lead heading into the second. Kings refocused heading into the second and bounced back with a 4 goal period there selves to send the game into the third tied 4-4. Bancroft scored twice more on the PP again and went onto win 6-4 final.
This weekend was all about team bonding and getting to know each other making the finals was a bonus.
