Lipstick on a Pig
In investment banking we call it "putting lipstick on a pig", but that may be too harsh a title for this weekend's roundup.Or maybe not.

The boys played 4 games and came away with 1 point of a possible 8. I could just put in some pictures and leave it at that but ICYMI, here is the Cole's notes version of the weekend games for the Midget BB KINGS.

Game 1 was against Petawawa on Friday afternoon and despite being down two goals after 2 periods, the team rallied to even the score with markers by Riley Young and Andrew Ward. With 5 minutes still left in the third frame, the team needed to stay focused. Unfortunately, Petawawa was able to score 2 unanswered goals and took the game 5-3. Wyatt Gilbert opened the scoring for the Kings; helpers went to Ryan Kelly, Chase Eaton and Andrew Ward.

Game 2 brought us the Grizzlies from Madoc. We've seen this crew before and we'll see them again. A penalty-filled affair that saw the Kings in the box for 22 minutes! In a 10-10-15 game, that's a lot of minutes! To be fair, CHS has their share as well - 20 mintues. Andrew Ward opened the scoring for the Kings with a first period marker from Young and Rutter. HVV scored in the last seconds of the first frame to make it 2-0 Kings. CHS tied it up at 2-2 mid-way through the third before Tyler Allison put the Kings ahead. It looked like the Kings were going to pull off a win but with multiple Kings in the box, CHS scored with 14 seconds left to tie the game.

I missed Game 3 but by all accounts it was not a pretty one. 0 points in a 2-4 loss to Deep River. Goals - RK and Rutter. Assists - Miller and BK.

Sunday at noon was Game 4.The Midget Championship game participants had already been determined (Napanee versus Tweed) so the PEC vs. Brighton game was largely for pride. Like CHS, the Kings have seen the Braves in the past and will see them again. The lone tally went to Andrew Ward in a 4-1 loss.

Carter, Corey and Connor handled goal-tending duties for the tournament.
